Overview

Editage, the flagship brand of CACTUS, is building a global pool of Freelance Alt-Text Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to review and validate AI-generated alt-text descriptions for scientific images in STM (Scientific, Technical, Medical) publications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Review AI-generated alt-text for scientific accuracy and technical precision
• Ensure descriptions are concise, objective, and accessibility-compliant (max 200 characters for short alt-text)
• Maintain consistency across similar images within assigned articles
• Handle complex content including equations, tables, and medical images
• Meet same-day turnaround requirements
  
  
  

Qualifications and Prerequisites

• Degree (Bachelors, Master's, PhD, or equivalent) in relevant scientific, technical and medical domain
• Strong attention to detail and scientific accuracy
• Ability to write clear, concise descriptions
• Experience with scientific literature
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadline
• Reliable internet and modern web browser
• Academic editing experience (preferred)
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) (preferred)
