Field Implementation
- Site Inspections: Conducting frequent walkthroughs of tunneling areas and shafts to identify immediate hazards such as loose rock, electrical exposure, or tripping risks.
- Toolbox Talks: Organizing and leading daily safety briefings with the workforce to discuss specific hazards associated with the day's tasks (e.g., segment lowering or TBM maintenance).
- PPE Compliance: Ensuring all workers and visitors strictly adhere to Personal Protective Equipment requirements, especially respiratory protection in dusty tunnel environments.
- Atmospheric Testing: Regularly checking gas levels (oxygen, methane, CO) and ventilation efficiency within confined underground spaces.
- Permit Management: Reviewing and verifying "Permit-to-Work" documents for high-risk activities like welding in the tunnel or heavy lifting operations.
- Incident Logging: Maintaining accurate daily logs of safety observations, near-misses, and any corrective actions taken on-site.
- Emergency Drills: Assisting in the coordination of fire and evacuation drills specifically designed for underground escape routes.
