The Role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Pharmacy Support Worker and play a vital role in ensuring medicines reach patients safely, accurately and on time. Working as part of a supportive and dedicated Pharmacy Services team, you will help deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care across acute and mental health services. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Based at Gartnavel General Hospital
• Cross-sector working in any North Sector site will be required
• 22 hours per week, with public holiday and weekend working
• Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Support the supply, dispensing and distribution of medicines to wards, departments and patients across acute and mental health services
• Deliver ward top-up services, ensuring medicines are available at the right levels and stored appropriately
• Process medicine requisitions, emergency requests and stock replenishment activities accurately and efficiently
• Receive, check and receipt pharmaceutical stock while maintaining accurate inventory records and stock control systems
• Provide excellent customer service to healthcare colleagues, patients and suppliers, resolving queries professionally and promptly
• Support the safe handling, storage and management of medicines in line with departmental procedures and legislation
• Use pharmacy and IT systems to maintain records, support dispensing activities and contribute to the effective running of the department
  
  

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Educated to National 5/Standard Grade level or equivalent with a good general standard of education
• Previous experience in a healthcare, pharmacy or customer-facing environment
• Willingness to work towards and complete relevant Pharmacy Services SVQ training and competency programmes
• Strong IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office applications, email systems and electronic record systems
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work accurately in a busy environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
• Ability to follow procedures, maintain attention to detail and uphold high standards of safety, confidentiality and patient care
