Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager – Industrial Business Development

To independently drive business growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing strategic customer relationships, and achieving sales and collection targets for the Building & Construction and Mining segments. The role is responsible for expanding market presence through project sales, government tenders, and strategic engagement with consultants, EPC contractors, OEMs, and key industrial customers while ensuring seamless order execution and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Portfolio
The incumbent will be responsible for promoting and developing business for the following products:
- Higher HP Submersible Borehole Pumps
- Higher HP End Suction Pumps
- Hydropneumatic Systems
- Horizontal Multistage Pumps
- Vertical Multistage Pumps
- Pressure Booster Systems
- Vertical Turbine Pumps
- Drainage & Dewatering Pumps
- Develop new business opportunities within the Building & Construction, Mining, Infrastructure, Industrial, Water Supply, Commercial Buildings, Municipal, and Government sectors.
- Identify and engage consultants, architects, MEP consultants, EPC contractors, builders, OEMs, industries, mining companies, government departments, municipalities, water authorities, and project owners.
- Generate new enquiries and expand the customer base within the assigned territory.
- Promote the company's industrial pumping solutions for large infrastructure, commercial, industrial, mining, and water management projects.
- Secure product approvals and specifications with consultants and project stakeholders.
- Drive project business from enquiry generation through order closure and execution.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for: Sales Revenue, Order Booking, Collections, Profitability, Market Share
- Develop and execute territory-wise business development plans.
- Conduct 10–12 days of customer and market visits per month.
- Build long-term relationships with consultants, EPC contractors, project owners, government authorities, OEMs, distributors, and key industrial customers.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Independently manage Government e-Marketplace (GeM) activities, including: Product listing Bid participation, Tender preparation, Compliance documentation, Bid submission, Reverse auction participation, Order processing , Order tracking
- Manage public sector and institutional tenders from enquiry through award.
- Prepare techno-commercial quotations and proposals.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Pricing, and Manufacturing teams for technical and commercial approvals.
- Conduct commercial negotiations and finalize orders while ensuring profitability.
- Coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, and Logistics to ensure timely order execution.
- Monitor project progress until successful delivery and customer acceptance.
- Resolve commercial and execution-related issues promptly.
- Monitor competitor products, pricing, market trends, customer requirements, and new infrastructure developments.
- Identify upcoming projects through consultants, builders, EPC contractors, government agencies, and market intelligence sources.
- Recommend strategies for increasing market penetration.
- Prepare weekly and monthly MIS covering: Enquiry Pipeline, Quotation Status, Order Booking, Sales Achievement, Collections, Customer Visits, Tender Status, GeM Business, Sales Forecast, Competitor Analysis, Project Pipeline
Skills and Abilities.
- Strong business development and project sales skills.
- Good technical knowledge of industrial pumping systems and their applications.
- Experience in techno-commercial negotiations, tendering, and GeM portal management.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and OEMs.
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in market analysis, sales forecasting, and pipeline management.
- Effective planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems.
- Self-motivated, result-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Willing to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering (B.E./B.Tech)
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in Industrial Business Development and Sales.
Experience in the Pumps, Motors, Water Management, Building & Construction, Mining, Industrial Equipment, or related industries is preferred.
