About Snapmint:

Snapmint is a leading fintech company redefining access to consumer credit in India. With over 10 million customers across 2,200+ cities, our zero-cost EMI platform enables responsible purchases without the need for a credit card across categories like fashion, electronics, and lifestyle. India has over 300 million credit-eligible consumers, yet fewer than 35 million actively use credit cards. Snapmint addresses this gap by offering a trusted, transparent alternative grounded in financial inclusion and ethical lending practices.

Founded in 2017, Snapmint is a profitable, high-growth company doubling year-on-year. Our founding team, alumni of IIT Bombay and ISB, brings deep experience from companies like Oyo, Ola, Maruti Suzuki, and has successfully built and exited ventures in ad-tech, patent analytics, and bank-tech.

We are building the future of responsible consumer finance, simple, transparent, and customer first.

About the Role:

We're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to sit inside the Strategy & Business Operations function and build the internal tools, dashboards, and automations that let a small team run a large lending business. This is not a backend-infra role — it's a hands-on builder role for someone who wants to work directly with business leaders, understand a real operating problem (collections, credit ops, finance reconciliation, vendor management, etc.), and ship a working tool for it in days, not quarters.

You'll spend your time moving between business stakeholders and code — translating a messy spreadsheet-and-WhatsApp process into a reliable internal application, then iterating on it based on real usage. This role requires enough business process maturity to work independently with function heads, correctly diagnose the real operating problem (not just the stated request), and make sound judgment calls without close supervision — the technical build is often the easier half of the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Sit with business operations, finance, credit, and compliance teams to identify manual, error-prone, or slow workflows worth automating
  • Design and build internal tools: dashboards, workflow automations, data pipelines, lightweight web apps, and bots that solve specific operational bottlenecks
  • Own tools end-to-end — from requirements gathering through build, deployment, and iteration based on user feedback
  • Integrate with internal systems and APIs (loan management system, CRM, payment gateways, communication platforms) to pull and act on operational data
  • Build reporting and monitoring tools that give leadership real-time visibility into key operating metrics (collections efficiency, NPA trends, GRM turnaround, disbursal funnels)
  • Prioritize speed and pragmatism — ship a working v1 fast, then refine, rather than over-engineering for scale on day one
  • Document tools clearly enough that non-technical teams can use and (partially) maintain them
  • Strong fundamentals in at least one backend language (Python, JavaScript/Node, or similar) and comfort with SQL
  • Experience building and shipping internal tools, automations, or full-stack applications independently — not just contributing to an existing large codebase
  • Ability to work directly with non-technical business stakeholders: asking the right questions, scoping a fuzzy problem, and pushing back when a request doesn't solve the real issue
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a preference for shipping fast, iterating in production, and owning outcomes rather than tickets
  • Basic familiarity with cloud infra (AWS/GCP) and API integrations

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in a fintech, NBFC, or lending business
  • Exposure to workflow automation tools () or low-code platforms, used pragmatically alongside custom code
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM APIs for building lightweight automation (document extraction, summarization, classification)

What Success Looks Like

  • Business teams increasingly bring you problems before they build workarounds in Excel
  • A portfolio of shipped internal tools that are actively used, not shelfware
  • Measurable reduction in manual effort or turnaround time in the processes you've touched
  • Trusted as a technical partner by non-technical function heads across credit, finance, and operations
