A key advantage of the PROMATION Smart Line is its ability to operate with both smart and conventional production equipment. This enables manufacturers to introduce automation incrementally rather than undertaking a complete line-integration project. A single interface provides centralised control of conveyor-line functions, while line configurations can be changed according to production jobs or PCB counts.

The system also incorporates Poke-Yoke functionality in Cascade mode. During a job change, it can prompt operators to confirm that the next non-PROMOTION machine is ready before the first PCB is transferred. This can help reduce errors during production changeovers and improve coordination between equipment from different vendors.

For production management, the Smart Line can store product profiles and provide a query function for locating PCBs, products, or customer parts. Its production-monitoring capabilities include PCB counting, production-run timing, and production tracking. Reject conveyors can monitor boards removed by operators and subsequently returned to production, while buffer systems provide rack-count information.

The platform also supports pre-reflow controls designed to prevent PCBs from remaining inside the oven during upstream stoppages. Real-time log files and production history provide visibility into production activity, while Job Queue functionality allows operators to prepare multiple jobs in advance and maintain job-history records for scheduling and traceability.

An intuitive green, yellow, and red status display provides operators with a quick indication of handling-system conditions. The system is positioned as an alternative to complex full-line integration, potentially reducing implementation costs while improving process control and operator efficiency.
