Quality Analyst 2

Job Description

Applies established quality standards for test completeness and coverage thresholds with limited supervision. Contributes to identifying coverage gaps and supporting efforts to address them. Prepares and updates basic coverage documentation and metrics for assigned features or components. Uses coverage analysis tools to verify that requirements are met and reports findings to the QA lead. Participates in discussions to improve test coverage consistency across the team.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Analysis:

• Reviews product requirements for assigned features, sharing observations with the team.
• Provides input to refine functional requirements and test approaches for assigned scope.
• Collaborates with developers and QA colleagues to clarify requirements for assigned product components.
• Follows documentation created by team to perform regression testing.
• Categorizes and classifies test cases based on use cases and requirements provided by higher levels.
  
  
  

Test Coverage Optimization:

• Translates requirements into test requirements and testing protocols for assigned components.
• Identifies relevant use cases and scenarios under guidance from higher levels.
• Assesses potential impacts of new functionality on existing functionality with supervision.
  
  
  

Test Planning & Strategy:

• Creates test documentation for new and existing functionality to assess potential impacts of new code on existing systems.
• Reviews test plans developed by others and executes complex test plans with moderate independence.
• Ensures sufficient test coverage and determines when additional or specialized testing is warranted for specific features.
  
  
  

Testing Automation:

• Creates simple automation scripts for assigned test cases and updates existing scripts to address defects or changes in requirements.
• Coordinates with central automation teams to schedule, execute, and maintain automated test suites.
• Selects candidate tests for automation based on frequency, stability, and business priority, under guidance.
  
  
  

Execution & Quality Standards:

• Executes according to pass/fail criteria in partnership with Scrum teams and provides feedback on code quality and test sufficiency.
• Performs patch testing and reporting to validate new pod and package deployment methods prior to customer release.
• Executes according to pass/fail criteria with guidance from team members and provides early feedback on test results.
  
  
  

Defect/Error Monitoring & Resolution:

• Conducts and documents complex root cause analysis (RCA) for defects and test failures, collaborating with peers to validate findings.
• Monitors, investigates, and validates defects using tracking tools and advanced debugging techniques.
• Provides feedback to improve defect prioritization and resolution processes.
• Uses insights from test and defect data to inform project decisions and milestone evaluations.
  
  
  

Quality Analysis Infrastructure:

• Applies quality assessment tools to support reporting, analysis, and measurement aligned with teams.
• Utilizes QA testing tools effectively in daily tasks and provides guidance to others on tool usage when necessary.
  
  
  

Test Analysis & Recommendations:

• Reports defects using standardized tracking protocols to ensure consistency and transparency.
• Provides information to help development teams understand reported issues.
• Conducts exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and unexpected user paths.
• Identifies and resolves moderately complex issues that affect workflows or core functionality.
  
  
  

Special Assessments:

• Executes specialized tests to ensure compliance with compliance standards and accessibility criteria (e.g., Web Content Accessibility Guidelines [WCAG] 2.2), and Oracle/government compatibility.
• Identifies testing impacts and reporting deviations from standards.
