HR Manager – People Operations

Location: Nagpur

Work arrangement: Fully on-site

Experience: 5-10 years in an IT/software company

Reporting to: Head of People Ops and Learning

Joining preference: Immediate to 30 days

About the Role

SimpleWorks is looking for a sharp, detail-oriented and hands-on HR Manager to manage day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle.

This is an individual-contributor role with broad operational responsibility. The person should be equally comfortable working with employees, coordinating recruitment, managing sensitive HR processes and handling detailed numerical work involving timesheets, variable pay and payroll inputs.

Key Responsibilities HR Operations and Payroll Inputs

  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation and employee data.
  • Manage attendance, leave records and related monthly reconciliations.
  • Audit employee timesheets for completeness, accuracy and compliance.
  • Calculate and validate monthly variable-pay and incentive inputs.
  • Prepare and verify all employee-related inputs required for payroll processing.
  • Coordinate with Finance to ensure accurate and timely payroll closure.
  • Prepare regular HR reports, trackers and management dashboards.
  • Identify discrepancies and follow through until they are resolved.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for junior and mid-level positions.
  • Support leadership in hiring for senior and specialized positions.
  • Source and screen candidates, coordinate interviews and manage candidate communication.
  • Prepare offers and coordinate documentation and background-verification processes.
  • Manage joining formalities and deliver a structured onboarding experience.

Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Track probation periods and coordinate timely confirmation decisions.
  • Manage employee transfers, role changes, documentation and exits.
  • Conduct exit formalities and ensure proper handover and clearance.
  • Maintain accurate records at every stage of the employee lifecycle.

Performance and Employee Relations

  • Coordinate performance-review cycles and maintain related documentation.
  • Support managers in implementing performance improvement plans.
  • Assist with disciplinary processes and ensure that cases are handled consistently and properly documented.
  • Address employee queries and grievances in a timely, approachable and confidential manner.
  • Build employee trust while ensuring adherence to company policies.

Policies, Compliance and Engagement

  • Support the implementation and consistent application of HR policies.
  • Maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.
  • Monitor compliance with established HR processes and follow up on deviations.
  • Coordinate employee-engagement activities and internal HR communication.
  • Assist the Head of People Ops and Learning with ongoing people initiatives.

Mandatory Requirements

  • MBA, PGDM or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Human Resources.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on HR experience in an IT or software company.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with detailed HR and payroll-related data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple HR processes simultaneously.
  • Ability to work fully on-site from our Nagpur office.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with HRMS, attendance, payroll or recruitment systems.
  • Exposure to technical recruitment.
  • Experience preparing payroll and variable-pay inputs.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting performance management, PIPs and employee grievances.
