Job Summary
The Security Officer is responsible for the oversight of physical security operations supporting a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Technology Control Program (TCP). This position safeguards export-controlled nuclear technology, controlled technical information, and other sensitive assets by enforcing physical security requirements, access control procedures, visitor management, incident reporting, CCTV monitoring, and Technology Control Plan (TCP) requirements.
The successful candidate will oversee controlled areas of operations, administer access control systems, manage visitor activities, conduct security investigations related to incidents, issue security badges, and ensure compliance with DOE regulations, 10 CFR Part 810 authorizations, export control requirements, and company security policies.

This position safeguards export-controlled nuclear technology, controlled technical information, and other sensitive assets by enforcing physical security requirements, access control procedures, visitor management, incident reporting, CCTV monitoring, and Technology Control Plan (TCP) requirements.
The successful candidate will oversee controlled areas of operations, administer access control systems, manage visitor activities, conduct security investigations related to incidents, issue security badges, and ensure compliance with DOE regulations, 10 CFR Part 810 authorizations, export control requirements, and company security policies.
Major Responsibilities
- Administer physical security requirements supporting the DOE Technology Control Program and enforce Technology Control Plan requirements across controlled areas.
- Control access to export-controlled nuclear technology, controlled technical information, and sensitive assets by verifying authorisation before granting access.
- Manage daily controlled area security operations, including personnel accountability, end-of-day checks, and compliance with company and DOE security requirements.
- Administer electronic access control systems, issue and manage badges, maintain access records, and conduct periodic access reviews and audits.
- Coordinate visitor access, verify approvals, ensure escort requirements are met, conduct visitor security briefings, and maintain visitor logs.
- Monitor CCTV, alarm, and intrusion detection systems; review footage as needed; preserve surveillance evidence; and identify physical security vulnerabilities.
- Respond to security incidents, unauthorised access attempts, suspicious activity, and emergencies; prepare incident reports and support investigations.
- Collect and maintain incident evidence, access logs, visitor records, badge inventories, and other security documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Provide initial and refresher security training to authorised personnel on Technology Control Program and controlled area requirements.
- Support audits, customer assessments, and DOE inspections; track security metrics and recommend improvements to physical security procedures.
- U.S. citizen OR citizen of one of the General Authorized Destinations listed in 10 CFR Part 810 (Appendix A).
- Minimum five (5) years of physical security experience.
- Experience administering electronic access control systems.
- Experience issuing security credentials and managing badge programs.
- Experience conducting visitor control operations.
- Experience monitoring enterprise CCTV systems.
- Experience conducting security investigations.
- Experience in preparing professional incident reports.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting DOE
- Experience supporting a Technology Control Program.
- Knowledge of 10 CFR Part 810.
- Knowledge of export control regulations.
- Experience with Lenel, C
- CURE or equivalent enterprise security systems.
