MSME Lean Manufacturing Consultant / Lean Implementation Consultant

We are looking for an experienced Lean Manufacturing Consultant / Lean Implementation Professional to support implementation of Lean practices across MSME manufacturing units.

The role is highly implementation-oriented and requires hands-on interaction with factory owners, production teams and shop-floor employees.

The selected professional will conduct diagnostic assessments, identify improvement opportunities, develop implementation plans, train MSME teams, support Lean projects, maintain required documentation and monitor measurable improvements at participating manufacturing units.

Candidates with previous experience under the MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme, QCI, NPC or similar MSME productivity/quality improvement programmes will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial diagnostic studies of participating manufacturing units.
• Identify productivity, quality, process-flow, inventory, downtime and waste-reduction opportunities.
• Develop unit-wise Lean implementation and improvement plans.
• Implement Lean tools including:
• 5S and Workplace Management
• Kaizen
• Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
• Visual Management
• Poka-Yoke
• Kanban / Pull Systems
• TPM
• OEE Improvement
• SMED
• Line Balancing
• Standard Work
• Root Cause Analysis
• 7 QC Tools
• Inventory and WIP Reduction
• Conduct shop-floor training and workshops for employees and management.
• Mentor MSME teams through implementation rather than limiting engagement to classroom training.
• Establish baseline KPIs and track improvement against agreed targets.
• Measure productivity improvement, rejection reduction, downtime reduction, inventory improvement, cost savings and other relevant operational indicators.
• Prepare implementation reports, evidence, photographs, data sheets, presentations and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with MSME owners, management representatives, implementation teams and other stakeholders.
• Support participating units in preparing for assessments and certification requirements.
• Visit multiple manufacturing units and independently manage assigned projects.
• Ensure implementation milestones and documentation are completed within agreed timelines.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, production, quality, industrial engineering, operational excellence or Lean implementation.
• Strong hands-on understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Demonstrated experience implementing improvement projects on an actual shop floor.
• Ability to independently diagnose manufacturing problems and recommend practical improvements.
• Experience working with production data, KPIs, OEE, productivity, rejection, cycle time and process efficiency.
• Strong communication, training and stakeholder-management skills.
• Comfortable working directly with MSME owners as well as shop-floor employees.
• Willingness to travel frequently to manufacturing clusters.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates having one or more of the following will receive preference:

• QCI Certified / Empanelled Lean Consultant
• NPC-trained or Certified Lean Consultant
• Experience under MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme / MCLS / LMCS
• MSME Lean Consultant training
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt / Master Black Belt
• Industrial Engineering / Mechanical / Production Engineering qualification
• Experience with ZED, ISO 9001, IATF or other manufacturing-quality frameworks
• Previous experience handling multiple MSMEs or manufacturing clusters

Important

We are specifically looking for an implementation professional, not only a Lean/Six Sigma trainer.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate actual Lean projects where measurable improvements were achieved.
