AS400 Developer – COBOL

We are looking for an experienced AS400/IBM i Developer with strong hands-on experience in COBOL development. The candidate will be responsible for application development, enhancement, maintenance, production support, debugging, and troubleshooting of AS400 applications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, maintain, and support applications on AS400/IBM i platforms.

Design and develop programs using COBOL/400 and ILE COBOL.

Work with DB2 for i for database development and data management.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Develop and maintain CL/CLLE programs and job processes.

Work with existing AS400 applications and perform code modifications.

Perform application debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.

Develop and maintain RPG/RPGLE programs where required.

Create and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.

Perform unit testing, integration testing, and production validation.

Handle production incidents and provide L2/L3 application support.

Participate in code reviews and follow development standards.

Prepare technical documentation and support release/deployment activities.

Coordinate with functional teams, QA, and other technical teams.

Required Skills

Strong experience in AS400 / IBM i

Hands-on experience with COBOL/400 / ILE COBOL

DB2 for i / DB2 database

CL/CLLE

AS400 job scheduling and job management

Strong SQL skills

Application debugging and troubleshooting

Production support experience

Knowledge of IBM i development and deployment processes

IBM i APIs and service programs

Embedded SQL

FTP/SFTP and file processing

MQ experience

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology
