NodeJS Backend Developer with AWS
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Build reliable, secure, highly available microservice-based and distributed applications.
- Design and implement efficient data models and access patterns with Amazon DynamoDB.
- Develop cloud-native, event-driven backend solutions using AWS services (ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, CloudWatch).
- Create asynchronous workflows, background jobs, integrations, and messaging architectures.
- Define backend architecture, service boundaries, APIs, data flows, and component relationships.
- Troubleshoot complex customer-facing and production issues.
- Address performance, scalability, stability, security, availability, and extensibility proactively.
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design, and code reviews.
- Ensure backend services meet standards for performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and quality.
- Write automated unit, integration, API, and service-level tests.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production using logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerts.
- Maintain high availability and ownership of customer trust and production reliability.
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, and deployment.
- Collaborate with product managers, quality engineers, architects, and distributed teams.
- Work in Agile/Scrum environment.
- Take end-to-end ownership of backend features throughout the software lifecycle.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to backend engineering standards and architecture guidelines.
Must-have:
- 7-9 years software engineering experience, 5+ years backend development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed backend systems.
- Proficiency with Amazon DynamoDB (partition/sort keys, indexes, query patterns).
- Experience with AWS services: ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, CloudWatch.
- Experience with asynchronous, queue-based, event-driven workflows.
- Automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, or equivalent).
- Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins or equivalent.
- Git-based source control.
- Strong understanding of monitoring, debugging, observability, incident troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of API security, authentication/authorization, error handling, resiliency, performance optimization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Java, Spring Boot, React, HTML, CSS, modern JavaScript frontend.
- MySQL or PostgreSQL, Redis or Amazon ElastiCache.
- AWS Step Functions, SNS, EventBridge, IAM, EC2.
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation).
- Kubernetes.
- NestJS or Express.js.
- Observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Datadog.
- Experience with messaging, event streaming, or distributed workflow platforms.
