Founding Account Manager (US B2B SaaS)
About the Company
An AI-native visual communication platform, used by 5M+ users, built for IITians and backed by top investors, that turns text into diagrams, frameworks, presentations, and business visuals instantly.
About the Role
This is the first commercial hire for the B2B business, deliberately not a pure sales role. The individual will help define the enterprise and education product, requiring deep understanding. Demand is largely inbound, focusing on qualifying, discovery, and closing leads. The role extends beyond closing to include implementation, onboarding, adoption, and renewal, running business reviews to maintain account health. The ideal candidate balances sales and customer success, is curious about customer workflows in enterprise and education, and provides feedback to founders to shape the product roadmap. This is an individual contributor role working directly with founders, with a clear path to building and leading the commercial team.
Responsibilities
- Own the following parts of the sales cycle — qualification, discovery, demo, negotiation, and close.
- Qualify, prioritize, and convert the inbound demand generated by the product's existing user base and marketing motion.
- Convert self-serve users into B2B pipeline by identifying team- and organization-level expansion signals.
- Stay with the customer after the close, owning implementation, onboarding, adoption, and renewal rather than handing off.
- Run regular business reviews, track usage and success metrics, and surface churn risk early enough to act on it.
- Go deep on how enterprise and education customers actually work, including approval chains, procurement, and the workflows that differ from consumer use.
- Feed structured customer insight back to the founders and product team, helping define what the enterprise version of the product becomes.
- Establish the founding commercial playbook—qualification criteria, objection handling, pricing conversations, close plans, and the onboarding motion.
- Set up and own the GTM stack, including CRM hygiene, pipeline stages, forecasting, renewal tracking, and reporting.
- Work with marketing on demand generation, launch motions, and content that supports the B2B funnel.
- Own targets across new business, retention, and expansion, with accountability for revenue that holds year on year.
- Lay the groundwork to hire, onboard, and mentor the next set of commercial hires as the function scales.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in B2B SaaS across sales and customer success, with a strong track record of closing and retaining US-based customers from India.
- Experience at an early-stage startup, having been part of a 0→1 or 1→10 revenue journey.
- Proven ownership of the full customer lifecycle, rather than closing alone or account management alone.
- Strong product instincts; challenges product and roadmap with evidence from customers.
- Comfort selling a product-led product into teams and organisations, converting bottom-up usage into top-down deals.
- Strong discovery and commercial instincts, able to sell value rather than features.
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where both the playbook and the enterprise product are still being written.
- AI-first mindset, using AI tools as a default co-pilot in daily work.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with executive-level communication for a US audience.
- Willingness to work US time zone hours.
- Experience selling into US education, school districts, or the public sector (Bonus).
- Experience as a first commercial hire at a startup (Bonus).
- Experience with an AI-native or design/productivity product (Bonus).
