Manager- Disaster Recovery (DB)

The opportunity

At EY, our Consulting practice brings together strategy, technology, and operations to deliver real-world, value-driven outcomes for our clients. As part of our database and data platform team, you will work with global clients to design, modernize, and optimize mission-critical database environments. Leveraging EY’s integrated service offerings and innovative technology ecosystems, you will help organizations accelerate their cloud transformation and build resilient, future-ready data platforms.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Engage with clients to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable database infrastructure solutions
• Provide advisory on database strategy, modernization, and cloud adoption
• Design, implement, and manage enterprise database platforms across Oracle, SQL Server, and other database technologies like NoSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, etc.
• Perform installation, upgrades, patching, migration, and performance tuning
• Ensure high availability, backup/recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and security of database environments
• Configure and manage database-level DR solutions such as replication, log shipping, clustering, Always-On, Data Guard, etc.
• Participating in DR planning, readiness validation, and periodic DR drills in collaboration with infra teams
• Develop and maintain DR plans, recovery runbooks, recovery procedures, and supporting documentation.
• Support cloud migration and transformation initiatives (IaaS, PaaS, DBaaS) including DR design considerations
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Troubleshot complex database and infrastructure issues including failover and recovery scenarios
• Develop reusable assets, accelerators, and best practices including HA/DR frameworks for consulting engagements
• Support proposal development, solutioning, and client presentations
  
  

Requirements

• We’re looking for people with functional knowledge and diversified background in the following areas:
• 8–11 years of experience in database administration and engineering roles
• Strong hands-on expertise in at least two database platforms such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong understanding of database high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) concepts and implementations
• Practical experience in database failover, backup/recovery, and DR technologies (e.g., Data Guard, Always-On, replication)
• Exposure to enterprise DR/BCP concepts, with participation in DR drills or failover testing preferred
• Experience with additional databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or cloud-native databases
• Exposure to infrastructure components including OS (Linux/Windows), virtualization, storage, and compute
• Hands-on experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including DR-aware architectures
• Knowledge of automation/scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python)
• Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is preferred
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to clients
• Experience working in consulting or client-facing environments is preferred
