Freight Forwarding Specialist (Customer Adoption)
Sidecar is a 24/7 AI teammate for freight forwarders. It reads the inbox, quotes the lane, chases the shipment. This role is for someone who has worked at a freight forwarder. You will sit with our customers' pricing, operations and documentation teams, get them using Sidecar every day, and bring what you hear back to the people building it.
About Sidecar
Ever wonder how your phone got here from a factory in Shenzhen, or how a jacket from Italy reached your door in 5 days? Behind every shipment is a freight forwarder: the middleman coordinating ships, customs, warehouses, and trucks, still running on email, spreadsheets, and software from 1998. Sidecar gives them an AI teammate that calls, emails, logs into systems, and executes complex tasks end to end. We are backed by leading Silicon Valley VCs, angel investors, and industry advisors. Built in HSR, Bangalore.
The Role
Our customers are freight forwarders. The people who use Sidecar quote rates, chase shipping lines, file documents and answer customer mails all day. New software lands on that desk on top of everything else, and it only sticks when someone who has done the job sits next to them and shows them how it fits.
That is this role. You have worked on a forwarder's desk, in pricing, sea or air operations, customer service or documentation. You know what a rate request looks like at 6 pm on a Friday and which parts of the day nobody has time for. You use that to get branches live, keep them live, and tell us plainly what is getting in the way.
You will spend a lot of your time at customer offices and branches, on calls with users, and in our dashboard looking at who is using what. You work with the product team, the founders, the engineers and our other domain specialists.
Responsibilities
- Onboard branches and users. Set up new customers and branches, train pricing, operations and documentation teams on Sidecar, and sit with them through the first weeks until the new way of working is the default.
- Field visits. Travel to customer offices and branches, run training at their desks, watch how people actually work and find where Sidecar fits or gets in the way.
- Day-to-day support. Be the first person users call. Resolve what you can on the spot, and turn the rest into clear tickets for product and engineering, with the shipment, the mail and the expected outcome attached.
- Follow-through. Track every open item across customers and internal teams until it is closed. Nothing waits on "I'll check and get back."
- Usage monitoring. Watch usage by customer, branch and user. When a desk goes quiet, find out why and fix it, whether that is training, a missing feature or a process problem on their side.
- Voice of the desk. Turn recurring problems into specific feedback for product, technology and operations, in the user's language and with examples.
- Account relationships. Keep branch heads, pricing managers and operations leads updated on where their rollout stands, and keep the relationship warm between visits.
What we're looking for
- Freight forwarding background. This is the requirement. 3 to 7 years at a freight forwarder, NVOCC, shipping line agency or customs broker, in pricing, sea or air export-import operations, customer service, key accounts or documentation. You have handled rate requests, bookings, shipping instructions, bills of lading and customer follow-ups yourself.
- Fluent in the desk. Incoterms, FCL and LCL, carrier and co-loader coordination, shipping bills and port and customs portals are part of your working day, not things you have read about.
- People and phone. You can walk into a branch, get a busy pricing team to give you 30 minutes, and leave with them using the product. Frequent calls do not tire you.
- Travel. Regular visits to customer offices and branches across India.
- Follow-up discipline. You keep a list, you close it, and people trust you to come back with an answer.
- Practical with data. Comfortable in Excel or Google Sheets, reading usage reports and keeping a simple tracker.
- Curious about AI. You want to see what AI does to the desk you came from, and you pick up new software fast.
- Bengaluru, HSR Layout. Based at our office, on the road to customer branches when a rollout needs you there.
Benefits
- Top-bracket pay. We pay at the top of the market.
- Health insurance. Comprehensive cover.
- Gym and wellness. Wellness benefits, on us.
- Lunch and dinner. Provided at the office.
- Snacks and caffeine. Unlimited snacks, coffee, Red Bull, Diet Coke.
