Environment Management (Non-Production)

Role purpose

We are looking for an experienced engineers to own the end-to-end management of bank's non-

production estate. The role is accountable for the availability, configuration integrity and production

alignment of every non-prod environment — System Integration (SIT), User Acceptance (UAT),

Performance, Pre-Production/Staging, Training and Demo — across all digital and core banking

programmes.

Beyond keeping environments up, the role is expected to run non-prod as a managed service: a

published booking and utilisation dashboard, a governed clash-resolution process, a predictable data

refresh calendar, and a demonstrable measure of how far each environment has drifted from

• Drive and coordinate synchronisation between non-production and production — application
  
  

versions, configuration, interface contracts, reference and parameter data, certificates,

entitlements and infrastructure topology.

• Define and report an environment drift metric; run scheduled drift assessments and drive
  
  

remediation before major test phases.

• Work with Release Management and Change to ensure production changes, emergency fixes
  
  

and vendor patches are reflected in the relevant non-prod environments on a defined lag,

with the lag itself agreed and visible.

• Ensure integration points (core banking, payments, middleware, third-party and fintech
  
  

partners) are represented consistently across environments, with clear ownership of

connectivity, credentials and certificate renewals.

Troubleshooting and continuous improvement

• Lead rapid triage and resolution of environment incidents, keeping affected programmes
  
  

informed with clear status and expected recovery.

• Distinguish environment defects from application defects early, protecting test teams from
  
  

wasted cycles and keeping defect metrics clean.

• Run root cause analysis on recurring environment failures and implement preventive
  
  

measures.

• Identify and progress opportunities for service virtualisation and stubbing where third-party
  
  

or downstream availability is a recurring constraint.

Documentation, reporting and stakeholder communication

• Maintain comprehensive, current documentation for environment architectureource of truth for non-prod environment status and bookings.
