Job Requirements
At Quest Global, it’s not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different. With over 25 years as an engineering services provider, we believe in the power of doing things differently to make the impossible possible. Our people are driven by the desire to make the world a better place—to make a positive difference that contributes to a brighter future. We bring together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals who are empowered by an intentional workplace culture, to solve problems better and faster.
Key Responsibilities
We wholeheartedly believe in the diversity of thought that comes with fostering a culture rooted in respect, where everyone belongs, is valued, and feels inspired to share their ideas. We know embracing our unique differences makes us better, and that solving the worlds hardest engineering problems requires diverse ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds. We shine the brightest when we tap into the many dimensions that thrive across over 21,000 difference-makers in our workplace.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture across business orchestration, warehouse execution, subsystem execution, real-time controls, UI standards, observability, and infrastructure concerns.
- Define the modular platform blueprint using domain-driven design, clear bounded contexts, stable APIs, and independently deployable services.
- Lead architectural decisions for Java and Spring Boot modernization, including migration from legacy Java technologies and reduction of technical debt.
- Define integration patterns between ERP/business systems, warehouse workflows, robotic subsystems, PLCs, Edge applications, HMI solutions, and the data-acquisition platform.
- Establish non-functional requirements for availability, scalability, latency, resilience, cybersecurity, maintainability, supportability, and upgradeability.
- Shape the service-based foundation, security architecture, CI/CD enablers, deployment topology, and runtime standards with the DevSecOps Lead.
- Provide architecture for KUKA-based robotic applications, controls interfaces, transport execution, safety-related integration, and rollout to product lines such as pallet ASRS.
- Guide data architecture for operational insights, KPI consumption, customer pilots, and compliant platform rollout.
- Produce architecture views, decision records, interface contracts, reference implementations, and modernization roadmaps.
- Chair design reviews and ensure that implementation teams conform to agreed principles without blocking pragmatic delivery.
- Evaluate technology choices and proof-of-concepts, identifying risks, dependencies, and migration paths.
- Mentor technical leads and developers and communicate complex trade-offs to product, delivery, operations, and business stakeholders.
- Minimum 12 years of software-engineering experience, including at least 4 years in a solution, software, or platform architecture role for distributed, industrial, automation, logistics, or similarly complex systems.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, REST/event-driven integration, modular architecture, and service decomposition.
- Demonstrated experience modernizing a large legacy platform through incremental releases rather than a single cutover.
- Strong understanding of cloud/on-premises or hybrid deployment, containers, CI/CD, observability, identity, secrets, and secure software design.
- Experience designing highly available systems that interact with equipment, PLCs, robotic controllers, or other operational technology is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Edge computing, web HMI, data platforms, and operational analytics.
- Ability to make and document architecture decisions, facilitate cross-team alignment, and balance roadmap goals with delivery constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with both engineering and senior stakeholders.
- Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, messaging, and event-driven architecture
- Microservices, modular monoliths, domain-driven design, and API governance
- Distributed systems, integration patterns, high availability, and resilience
- Containers, CI/CD, observability, identity and access management, and secure architecture
- SQL/data modelling, operational data platforms, Edge computing, and web HMI concepts
- Warehouse execution, robotic systems, PLC/control integration, and industrial automation concepts
- Architecture modelling, technical roadmaps, interface specifications, and architecture decision records
- A coherent and approved target architecture with actionable transition states.
- Reduced coupling and technical debt while preserving operational continuity.
- Consistent interfaces and non-functional standards across workstreams.
- Architecture risks identified early and resolved before they affect pilots or releases.
- Successful adoption of the platform across robotic and warehouse product lines.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
- Experience in warehouse automation, material handling, robotics, industrial controls, or safety-related systems.
- Architecture or cloud certification is beneficial but not a substitute for relevant delivery experience.
