To leverage on this and to expand into the northern & eastern geographies of India, Yara acquired Tata Chemicals’ 1.2 MN MT Urea plant in UP, Northern India. With this acquisition Yara India’s scale of operation has grown significantly.
Role & Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring effective welfare amenities including sanitation, hygiene, housekeeping and canteen and guest house administration across the plant and township premises. The role includes monitoring cleanliness standards, supervising housekeeping and canteen and guest house operations, ensuring food safety and statutory compliance, coordinating welfare activities, and maintaining healthy industrial relations in line with statutory requirements and company standards.

Sanitation Management
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of toilets, tea points, rest rooms, canteens, guest houses, drinking water stations, offices, and common areas.
- Monitor housekeeping activities across factory premises and township areas.
- Coordinate pest control services and sanitation activities through approved vendors.
- Supervise waste collection, segregation, and disposal practices as per environmental standards.
- Conduct regular sanitation inspections and initiate corrective actions where required.
- Supervise factory canteen and guest house operations to ensure hygienic food preparation and serving practices.
- Monitor cleanliness of kitchen, dining area, food storage areas, utensils, and drinking water facilities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards including FSSAI requirements.
- Monitor food handling, storage, preparation, and serving practices.
- Ensure canteen and guest houses staff maintain personal hygiene and use proper protective equipment such as gloves, aprons, and hairnets.
- Maintain records related to food safety inspections, pest control, and health status of food handlers.
- Coordinate with canteen and guest houses contractors/vendors regarding quality, hygiene, manpower, and discipline.
- Conduct awareness and training sessions for canteen and guest house staff on food hygiene and safe handling practices.
- Ensure welfare facilities are properly maintained as per statutory provisions.
- Conduct inspections of washrooms, rest rooms, welfare facilities, and common areas.
- Coordinate housekeeping schedules and monitor service quality standards.
- Promote employee welfare and workplace hygiene practices.
- Promote occupational health, hygiene, and workplace cleanliness standards.
- Coordinate with Safety Department for safety awareness and accident prevention initiatives.
- Ensure proper maintenance of drinking water points and sanitation facilities.
- Identify and report sanitation-related hazards, leakages, unsafe conditions, or hygiene concerns.
- Participate in internal audits, statutory inspections, and external compliance visits.
- Conduct awareness sessions on personal hygiene, sanitation, and workplace cleanliness protocols.
- Knowledge of industrial sanitation, welfare, and labour regulations.
- Familiarity with Factory Act provisions, OHS standards, and environmental compliance.
- Strong inspection, observation, and reporting skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments and vendors.
- Customer-focused and stakeholder-oriented approach.
- Basic understanding of chemical and biological waste management.
- Proficiency in MS Office and digital reporting tools.
- Two-year full-time Master of Social Work (MSW) from a recognized institute.
- 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in welfare administration, sanitation, housekeeping, or industrial relations.
- Good academic record preferred.
