Job Overview
The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring reliable operation of all power distribution, automation, control, and instrumentation systems associated with ETP, STP, WTP, RO, UF, MBR, ZLD, ATFD, EDI, and UPW facilities through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, automation support, and energy management while maintaining process integrity, equipment availability, energy efficiency, and statutory compliance across entire facilities
The role shall be responsible for maximizing system uptime, ensuring instrumentation accuracy, maintaining automation integrity, reducing power consumption, and supporting continuous plant performance improvement.

Job Overview
The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring reliable operation of all power distribution, automation, control, and instrumentation systems associated with ETP, STP, WTP, RO, UF, MBR, ZLD, ATFD, EDI, and UPW facilities through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, automation support, and energy management while maintaining process integrity, equipment availability, energy efficiency, and statutory compliance across entire facilities
The role shall be responsible for maximizing system uptime, ensuring instrumentation accuracy, maintaining automation integrity, reducing power consumption, and supporting continuous plant performance improvement.
Responsibilities
Electrical System Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain and Troubleshoot: HT/LT Distribution Systems, Transformers, DG Sets, PCC Panels, MCC Panels, APFC Panels, Bus Ducts, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), Soft Starters, UPS Systems, Battery Banks, Power Distribution Networks, Earthing & Lightning Protection Systems
- Ensure: Uninterrupted power availability, Proper load balancing, Healthy power factor, Compliance with electrical safety standards
- Maintain and Calibrate: Flow Meters, Electromagnetic, Ultrasonic, Mass Flow Meters, Pressure Gauges & Transmitters, Differential Pressure Transmitters, Temperature Sensors (RTD, Thermocouples), Level Transmitters, Radar, Ultrasonic, Hydrostatic, Conductivity Analyzers, pH Analyzers, ORP Analyzers, DO Analyzers, Turbidity Meters, TOC Analyzers, Chlorine Analyzers, Silica Analyzers, Resistivity Meters (UPW/EDI)
- Ensure: Accurate process measurement, Calibration traceability, Instrument reliability
- Support and Maintain: PLC Systems, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, SCADA Systems, HMI Interfaces, Remote I/O Systems, Communication Networks
- Monitor PLC logic performance, Troubleshoot automation failures, Verify control interlocks, Maintain alarm management systems, Backup PLC programs regularly, Coordinate with OEMs for software modifications
- Monitor and maintain: RO Systems, Feed flow transmitters, Differential pressure transmitters, Conductivity analyzers, pH analyzers, ORP analyzers, SDI monitoring systems.
- Monitor: EDI Systems, Product water resistivity, Stack voltage, Current efficiency, Flow balancing.
- Maintain: UPW Systems, Resistivity analyzers, TOC analyzers, Silica analyzers, Particle monitoring systems
- Monitor: DO Sensors, MLSS monitoring systems, TMP monitoring, Permeate flow systems, Air scouring controls
- Ensure: Stable biological process operation, Membrane protection, Optimized aeration control
- Maintain: ATFD Drives, MEE Instrumentation, Steam Control Systems, Temperature Monitoring Systems, Crystallizer Control Systems
- Verify: Energy consumption, Heater performance, Steam utilization efficiency
- Prepare and Execute: Daily inspections, Weekly maintenance schedules, Monthly PM programs, Annual shutdown maintenance
- Conduct: Thermal scanning, Insulation resistance testing, Earth resistance testing, Loop checking, Instrument health checks
- Ensure: Calibration schedule compliance, Traceable calibration records, NABL calibration coordination (where applicable)
- Maintain: Calibration certificates, Instrument history cards, Instrument master list
- Monitor: Power consumption trends, Specific energy consumption (kWh/m³), VFD performance, Power factor
- Identify: Energy-saving opportunities, Inefficient equipment operation
- Support: Energy audits, Sustainability initiatives
- Investigate: Frequent motor trips, VFD faults, PLC communication failures, Instrument drift, False alarms, Signal failures
- Conduct: Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- Maintain Inventory of: Transmitters, Sensors, VFD Components, PLC Modules, Relays, MCC Components, Control Cables, Instrument Fittings
- Ensure: Availability of critical spares, Timely procurement planning
- Ensure Compliance With: Factory Act, Indian Electricity Rules, CEA Regulations, Electrical Safety Standards, Site EHS Procedures
- Implement: LOTO procedures, Electrical PTW systems, Arc Flash Safety Practices, Safe Isolation Procedures
- Maintain: Electrical SLDs, Cable Schedules, Instrument Loop Diagrams, PLC Backup Records, Calibration Records, Maintenance Logs, Breakdown Reports, Energy Reports
- Prepare: Daily reports, Weekly reports, Monthly KPI reports
- Coordinate With: Instrument OEMs, PLC/SCADA Vendors, Electrical Contractors, Calibration Agencies
- Verify: AMC deliverables, Service reports, Spare consumption
Technical Competencies
- Electrical : HT/LT Systems, MCC/PCC Panels, VFDs & Soft Starters, Transformers, DG Systems, Power Distribution.
- Instrumentation : Field Instruments, Process Analyzers, Calibration Techniques, Control Valves, Loop Checking.
- Automation : PLC Programming Basics, SCADA Systems, HMI, Industrial Communication Protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Understanding of Water & Wastewater Technologies: ETP, STP, MBR, UF, RO, EDI, ZLD, ATFD, UPW Systems.
- Qualification : B.E. /Diploma in: Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Experience: Preferred industries: Semiconductor / Pharmaceutical / Chemical / Petrochemical / Power / Industrial Water & Wastewater Treatment.
