AH SAFETY
Job Purpose
Ensure overall Industrial & Fire safety of the plant and employees and comply with the Statutory requirements.
Job Context & Major Challenges
Alupuram Works produces and sells over 12000TPA of Aluminium Extrusions. The Works have two Extrusion Presses and a Casting Plant to supply Billets required for Extrusion Press and recycles scrap generated at Extrusion Press. The Plant is also having state of art Die-shop for manufacturing Extrusion Dies. The Works is having full time Canteen, OHS Centre and Company Colonies. Presently there are 402 permanent employees, 13 Casual & Temporary workmen and 85 contractor¿s workmen engaged by the Company.
The Unit was bifurcated in the year 1997 into Extrusion Division and Smelter Division for administrative accountability. Later as the Smelter operations was de-energised, now the Cast House operation and Extrusion are being merged into one and Alupuram Works.
Major Challenges
Achieve the target of zero accidents/incidents.
Capture all near-miss cases.
Facilitate investigation of accidents/incidents/near-miss cases.
Recommend remedies based on investigations.
Identify hazards and abnormalities.
Conduct safety audits & surveys.
Coordinate corrective actions.
Analyse accidents & injuries.
Feed back to departments and individuals.
Ensure implementation of all safety management systems.
Comply with fire prevention/protection management systems.
Ensure quality & availability of all necessary PPE.
Ensure training for all employees on industrial & fire safety.
Safety promotion among all levels of employees.
Ensure safety of all contract employees.
Convene Safety Board & Safety Committee meetings.
Adherence to IMS & WCM systems.
Prepare and send safety reports.
Ensure 100% statutory compliance.
Ensure 100% compliance to statutory audit recommendations
Meet all Corporate Safety requirements.

Fire & Safety
Maintenance of fire hydrant system and fire extinguishers ¿ Proper upkeep, refilling etc.,
Conduct periodic mock drills on fire and other hazards.
Corrective actions based on the findings of the mockdrill
KRA3 Compliance to statutory requirements.
Adherence to statutory requirements as per Factories Act
Close liasoning with Department of Factories & Boilers
Submission of Returns as per statutes (Renewal of Licenses, Yearly Returns, Accident Reporting etc)
Timely reporting of safety related matters/ data to Works Head and Corporate Safety Department
Close liasoning with Corporate Safety Departments and Safety Officers of other locations, National Safety Council and its Kerala Chapter
KRA4 Safety related IMS & WCM activities. Adherence to WCM roadmap.
Adherence to ISO OHSAS Management Systems
Coordinate Internal and External Audits and corrective actions wherever required.
KRA5 Convene Safety Board & Safety Committee meetings/activities. Formation of Departmental and Central Safety Committee
Conducting monthly EOH&S meetings and its record keeping
Follow up action plans of EOHS Meetings
KRA6 Safety awareness among all levels of employees. Safety training.
Informal meetings.
