NOW HIRING: COLLECTIONS MANAGER

Position Summary

Farmers State Bank of Hoffman is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Collections Manager to lead our collections department. This role is responsible for managing delinquent loan portfolios, developing effective collection strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining positive customer relationships while minimizing credit losses. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with a thorough understanding of banking regulations and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers and communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the collections department.
• Develop and implement collection strategies that improve portfolio performance while preserving customer relationships.
• Monitor delinquency trends and prepare regular reports for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state banking regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), where applicable, and internal policies.
• Work collaboratively with lending, branch, and credit administration teams to resolve delinquent accounts.
• Negotiate payment arrangements, loan modifications, and workout plans when appropriate.
• Review accounts for repossession, foreclosure, bankruptcy, or legal action and coordinate with internal and external partners.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records within the bank's servicing systems.
• Recommend process improvements that increase operational efficiency and reduce losses.
• Prepare in house real estate evaluations for use in lending decisions.
  
  

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of collections experience in a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of consumer and commercial lending practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and banking or loan servicing software.
  
  

Preferred

• Experience working in a community bank.
• Knowledge of bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession, and loan workout processes.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements affecting loan servicing and collections.
