Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior WordPress Developer with strong expertise in WordPress development, website maintenance, security, performance optimization, and custom solution delivery. The ideal candidate should be able to manage end-to-end WordPress development work,
troubleshoot complex issues, optimize website health, and contribute to client-facing technical discussions and pre-sales activities when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, maintain, and enhance WordPress websites, themes, plugins, templates, and custom functionality.
- Manage WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates while resolving compatibility, configuration, and deployment issues.
- Implement security best practices, including hardening, backups, vulnerability fixes, monitoring, access control, and malware prevention.
- Optimize websites for speed, scalability, Core Web Vitals, caching, database efficiency, image optimization, and front-end performance.
- Troubleshoot production issues, debug code, identify root causes, and deliver reliable fixes within agreed timelines.
- Build and integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, CRMs, marketing tools, analytics platforms, and other business systems.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, QA teams, content teams, and stakeholders to deliver stable and user-friendly solutions.
- Support client discussions, requirement analysis, technical estimations, solution recommendations, proposals, and pre-sales responses.
- Follow secure coding standards, version control workflows, documentation practices, staging processes, and production deployment best practices.
- 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience, preferably in client-facing, agency, or product-based environments.
- Strong expertise in WordPress, PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and responsive web development.
- Proven experience in custom theme development, plugin customization, custom plugin development, template creation, and WordPress architecture.
- Deep understanding of WordPress hooks, actions, filters, REST API, custom post types, taxonomies, shortcodes, widgets, and database structure.
- Strong experience in WordPress maintenance, troubleshooting, debugging, performance tuning, security hardening, and production support.
- Experience with Git, staging environments, release management, deployment workflows, and code review practices.
- Good understanding of hosting environments, DNS, SSL, CDN, caching, backups, firewalls, and basic server-side troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, communication skills, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.
- Experience with Gravityforms, Gutenberg, Elementor, Advanced Custom Fields, or similar WordPress tools.
- Exposure to SEO best practices, analytics setup, accessibility basics, and conversionfocused website improvements.
- Experience working on high-traffic websites, enterprise WordPress websites, migration projects, or multisite setups.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, cloud hosting, Linux basics, automation tools, or managed WordPress hosting platforms.
- Ability to independently own tasks from requirement understanding to delivery and postrelease support.
- Strong focus on website security, performance, maintainability, and long-term technical health.
- Clear communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams, including the ability to explain technical decisions simply.
- Structured approach to debugging, documentation, prioritization, and delivery under timelines
