Job Description

Role Overview

• Primary Focus: Diagnose, treat, and manage cardiovascular diseases and disorders.
• Core Mission: Improve patient outcomes through advanced cardiac care, preventive strategies, and interventional procedures.
• Qualification Requirement: Must hold a DM (Doctorate of Medicine) in Cardiology or DrNB (Doctorate of National Board) in Cardiology — the recognized super-specialty degrees in India.
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Care:
• Diagnose and manage heart diseases (coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, congenital heart disease).
• Perform and interpret diagnostic tests (ECG, echocardiography, stress tests, angiography).
• Prescribe evidence-based medical therapies.
• Interventional Procedures:
• Conduct angioplasties, stent placements, pacemaker/ICD implantations, and other catheter-based interventions.
• Manage emergency cardiac cases such as myocardial infarction.
• Preventive Cardiology:
• Guide patients on lifestyle modification, risk factor management (hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol).
• Promote cardiac rehabilitation programs.
• Research & Teaching:
• Participate in clinical research, publish findings, and contribute to academic growth.
• Train postgraduate and super-specialty students in cardiology.
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Degrees:
• MBBS → MD (Medicine) → DM/DrNB (Cardiology).
• Licensing: Registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI/NMC) or State Medical Council.
• Core Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular physiology and pathology.
• Expertise in interventional cardiology techniques.
• Strong decision-making in critical care settings.
• Empathetic communication with patients and families.
  

Work Environment

• Settings: Tertiary care hospitals, cardiac institutes, medical colleges, private practice, and research centers.
• Team Structure: Works with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists.
• Patient Population: Adults and children with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
