The Credit Manager – Loan Against Property (LAP) is responsible for evaluating, reviewing, and approving credit proposals related to LAP products within the Retail Underwriting function. - Underwrite secured and unsecured loan proposals in accordance with defined policies and procedures, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Supervise a team of credit underwriters and provide necessary guidance and support.
- Conduct personal discussions with customers to assess creditworthiness.
- Minimize front-end delinquencies by proactively engaging with customers at the first sign of default.
- Ensure completion and verification of credit and KYC documentation through telephonic checks, field visits, and collateral inspections.
- Coordinate with the sales team to meet business targets and maintain SLA compliance.
- Ensure strict adherence to credit policies and regulatory standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify early warning signals.
- Track deferrals and renewals and develop appropriate account strategies in collaboration with the business team.
- Maintain strong peer relationships and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
Education
- Graduate in any discipline (mandatory)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in LAP or retail lending
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- In-depth understanding of credit assessment and risk evaluation
- Ability to manage and mentor a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to compliance
