Job Title - Manager/ Senior Manager – QPEX – Plant Operations

Department - Quality Assurance

Reporting To - Head – Quality Assurance

Location - Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India

Position Summary

The Manager/Senior Manager – QPEX – Plant Operations is responsible for establishing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the Quality Management System across plant operations at multiple locations. The role ensures compliance with organizational standards, customer requirements, and applicable quality frameworks while driving operational excellence through robust systems, process controls, competency management, and quality governance.

The incumbent will lead initiatives across the three pillars of Plant Quality Excellence:

    • System Quality
    • Process Quality
    • Product Quality
The role serves as a key business partner to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Maintenance, HR, and Commercial teams to build a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Management System (QMS) Governance
    • Develop, implement, and maintain the Plant QMS framework.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other applicable standards.
    • Establish and govern quality policies, procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and control plans.
    • Manage document control systems and change management processes.
    • Lead Management Review Meetings and QMS performance reviews.
    • Drive risk-based thinking across plant operations.
  • System Audits & Compliance
    • Develop and execute quarterly internal audit programs for Process, Product and Systems across all locations.
    • Conduct audits across all departments and locations.
    • Monitor audit findings and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
  • Process Excellence & Operational Quality
    • Drive Process Audits and Layered Process Audits (LPA).
    • Monitor process adherence and identify opportunities for standardization.
    • Implement process control methodologies including:
    • SPC
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • Process Capability Studies
    • Partner with Operations to reduce variation and improve process performance.
    • Lead root cause analysis for recurring operational issues.
  • Product Quality Governance
    • Establish quality checkpoints across manufacturing operations.
    • Monitor quality performance metrics including:
    • FPY
    • Rejection %
    • Rework %
    • Customer Complaints
    • COPQ
    • Drive corrective and preventive actions for product quality issues.
    • Support customer complaint investigations and closure.
  • Continuous Improvement & Business Excellence
    • Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
    • Facilitate Kaizen events and process improvement workshops.
    • Identify opportunities for:
    • Waste reduction
    • Cost optimization
    • Productivity improvement
    • Quality enhancement
    • Drive digital quality initiatives and automation of quality processes.
  • KPI Management & Analytics
Develop And Monitor Plant Quality Dashboards Covering

System Metrics

    • Audit Compliance %
    • CAPA Closure Rate
    • SOP Compliance %
Process Metrics

    • Process Capability (Cp/Cpk)
    • OEE
    • Process Adherence %
Product Metrics

    • FPY
    • Defect Rate
    • Customer Complaints
    • COPQ
Prepare periodic reports and presentations for leadership reviews.

Key Deliverables

    • Sustained QMS compliance across plant operations
    • Successful completion of quarterly audits across departments and locations as per plan
    • Reduction in COPQ

Education Essential

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Printing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
Preferred

    • MBA (Operations/Quality Management)
    • Master's Degree in relevant discipline
Certifications (Preferred)

    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt
    • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
    • Internal Auditor Certification
    • ASQ CQE / CQA (Preferred)
    • Operational Excellence Certifications
Experience

    • 8–12 years of experience in Manufacturing Quality, Plant Quality, QMS, or Operational Excellence.
