Job Title: Assistant Engineer - Heat Treatment (Special Metals Division)

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join our Heat Treatment (Special Metals Division) team in the role of Assistant Engineer.
Job Purpose
Assistant Engineer is responsible for planning, executing and controlling heat treatment operations to ensure consistent product quality, resource efficiency and full compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage shift production schedules for heat treatment operations.Supervise shift manpower to ensure adherence to defined heat treatment cycles and process parameters.Coordinate with production and quality teams for smooth execution and compliance with standards.Review and ensure heat treatment cycles meet customer specifications and industry requirements.Operate and oversee muffle furnaces for trials and inspection samples.Ensure calibration and proper functioning of thermocouples, pyrometers and furnace controllers.Prepare and maintain shift documentation, heat treatment charts and audit records.Carry out SAP activities for material transfer, production tracking and reporting.Support audits, evaluate heat treatment non-conformities and ensure timely corrective actions and process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Diploma (Mechanical/Metallurgy) / B.Sc. (PCM)
Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience in Heat Treatment in Steel Mill / Open Die Forging Industry
Technical Expertise
Heat treatment of alloy steels, heat-resisting steels, high-speed steels, tool & die steels, stainless steels, iron & nickel-based superalloys.Operation and control of batch-type furnaces with capacities of 10 MT or more.
Key Skills & Competencies
Good knowledge of heat treatment processes, metallurgy and furnace operations.
Ability to plan, schedule and execute heat treatment operations effectively.
Experience in managing resources, consumables and shift manpower.
Familiarity with customer audits, third-party inspections and compliance requirements.
Skilled in preparing, maintaining and auditing documentation.
Proficiency in SAP for material tracking and production.
Strong teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement in testing processes.
