The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This Role In Summary
Whirlpool is looking for a Product Development Engineer for our Laundry Aesthetic team. The engineer will be responsible for Global Laundry Aesthetic subsystem deliverables, including development, execution, verification and validation, working with global cross functional teams during various phases of projects and across various technologies such as structural mechanics, sheet metal design, EPS design, rubber, glass, etc.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : B.Tech-Mech / M.Tech - Mechanical / Automobile Engineering.
EXPERIENCE: B.E / B.Tech : 3 - 6 years /M.Tech : 1 - 3 years

This Role In Summary
Whirlpool is looking for a Product Development Engineer for our Laundry Aesthetic team. The engineer will be responsible for Global Laundry Aesthetic subsystem deliverables, including development, execution, verification and validation, working with global cross functional teams during various phases of projects and across various technologies such as structural mechanics, sheet metal design, EPS design, rubber, glass, etc.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Responsible for generating and evaluating engineering concepts for Laundry products. Effectively communicate it with different cross functional teams.
- Work with key stakeholders in defining the release schedule, ensuring all proper sign-offs are in place to deliver superior quality products to our consumers.
- Drive New Product Development / Cost & Quality projects for Laundry business with a focus on Aesthetics & Structural components.
- Develop the technical solutions that will enable product leadership.
- Support global projects and be responsible to lead implementation projects.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to implementation using the project management tools by closely working with design, product approval, manufacturing, assembling and interface teams.
- Concept development, design creation, concept evaluation & selection, verification & validation and implementation into production.
- Open in sharing knowledge and thoughts
- Proactive knowledge documentation and sharing within and outside stakeholders
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : B.Tech-Mech / M.Tech - Mechanical / Automobile Engineering.
EXPERIENCE: B.E / B.Tech : 3 - 6 years /M.Tech : 1 - 3 years
Key Deliverables
- Develop concepts for the laundry product parts.
- Create Concept Selection Matrix, DFMEA, DVP&R & DFM for part design.
- Generate and release the part drawing into Windchill.
- Release BoM for the product into Windchill.
- Collaborate with the simulation team to perform virtual evaluation of parts using Simulations.
- Closely work with the global X-functional teams, labs to deliver quality products to consumers.
- Work on multiple project delivering results as per Organizational goals and KPIs
TECHNICAL
- Sheetmetal and Plastic component design.
- GD&T & Tolerance stackup
- Material & Manufacturing process.
- Conceptual & Analytical Skills.
- Ability to interpret simulation / test results.
- Proficient in Product Development Process.
- Very Strong communication and presentation skills
- Project Management – Ability to lead/close multiple projects at the same time
- Knowledge of CAD tools (Creo 2.0 or 4.0), PLM Software- Windchill.
- Design for Variation (GD&T and Tolerance stack up analysis)
- Experts in 8D, A3, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM
- Six Sigma tools and their applications (Certified Green or Black Belt)
